Globe Visibility Prepaid vs. Smart Bro Prepaid

Globe Visibility Prepaid vs. Smart Bro Prepaid

Both local telcos, Globe and Smart have launched their own Prepaid Wireless Broadband service. Previously a premium service from both company, they now are aiming at the prepaid market. Both are riding on each network’s 3G connection.

What’s funny is, this service and the unit (Globe uses a Huawei USB modem, while Smart uses a proprietory USB modem) are now trickling down to the main market, those who cannot afford a postpaid broadband connection, those who are always on the move (as long as their is a signal on each network’s towers, these modems will work), and those who are just adapters.

The modems started out expensive but now are both down to the P3K mark, where Globe is the cheapest of the 2 with their modem priced at P3500 only.

The Neurologist, The Pianist

February 15th, 2008 by edoc

At this very moment, our Pediatric Neurologist is downstairs in the hospital lobby playing the piano. His music is heard all throughout the hospital. He’s very good and plays a variety of OPM love songs. Usually, he plays for the “Doktora” Dr. Fe del Mundo, who listens romantically with Dr. Pe-Benito as he plays her these enchanting music.

Do I know You? I Think so!

I’m on duty at the moment and writing this blog in the Training Office. In my area, I already have one admission, a Kawasaki Disease patient, 7 years old female and is waiting for the IVIg to be delivered. The IV-Ig alone, the whole set costs around P240T. What a way to get sick right? Tough luck!

Anyways, as I was checking on the patient, in the room, there’s this guy who was staring at me, he’s the uncle of the patient. Then he greeted me with all smiles and asked me how I was, I’m sure I know this guy as he’s face is very familiar. Unfortunately, I forgot his name, even from the data of the patient, I really can’t remember who this guy is. All I know is, he’s my classmate in med school and that’s it. Hehehe Sorry, talagang hindi ko maalala eh, good thing magaling akong mag pretend hahahaha

Cigarette plus skin equals UGLY!

February 12th, 2008 by edoc

I’ve always said that it’s futile to tell smoker how bad this vice does with one’s body. Why? Because they won’t listen to me, a doctor. Heck, there are lots of physicians who smoke right? Yeah! Anyways, with guys, I guess, nothing to worry except for COPD, and cancer. Hmmm, not that major of a problem right, besides it will take years of smoking before one feels the symptoms right? RIGHT! Good luck! Now how about the ladies, those steaming hot fresh young bodies with soft and beautiful skin, how about them? Well, it will all boil down to UGLINESS. Nah! Most of them will say, they can always go to Dr. Belo for that. Yeah right! Again! But then, that’ll be artificial beauty! Well, that’s just me, I don’t like FAKE beauty, never really appreciated a boob job that doesn’t sag to the sides when the hot chick is laying on bed.

Hmmmm hehehe parang bao ng nyog nyahahahaha! Tapos biglang nagkaron ng dimples sa cheeks, but look closer, that’s the umbilicus STUPID! Nyahahaha sa sobrang lifting and tummy tuck, ayun hahahaha. Di bale, kaming mga duktor naman ang yumayaman, ok lang! Though, I won’t like it if someone I love would do it. Syempre parang iba na right? What do you think?

Tired? Quit? Hmmm, makes me think!

February 12th, 2008 by edoc

OH SHYET! I miss being a BUM! I miss the relaxing moment! I miss the time when I don’t have to think about tomorrow. SHYET NA MALAGKET! I miss it when I don’t have to think, when everything just pops out in the knoggin!

Someone inside me keeps on pushing me to quit, but that’s not me. I never quit, and I’m proud to say it. The Schizo in me is acting up again and I like it. But, can I take it for 3 years? Hmmmm, mixed feelings, can I take this every three days of duty, can I take it not to be with my loved ones that often? But to push myself for a better professional growth is the foundation that stops me from throwing in the towel.

Stuart Little says that “there’s always a silver lining”! Yeah! I know! But getting there is not that easy. That “growth” that I’m talking about is the only thing that keeps me from quitting and nothing else. I guess, that “nothing else” adds to the burden. Nothing to push me forward. The work and the patients surely does not push me. It frustrates me more. But then again, three years should not be that long, or is it?

Am I going crazy? Well, self assessment, HELL NO! Nyahahaha! I’ve been crazy and will always be and so, what’s there to be crazy about? Hmmm, lam ko meron but…..

The Blast and It’s Effects

October 19th, 2007 by edoc

What an unfortunate event, yesterday’s blast. First off, I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to the family of the casualties, most especially to the family of my student Janine Marcos.

Janine Marcos was one of the first names that was announced as deaths in the recent blast that took the lives of 9 people. Had it been just an accident, it would have been easier to accept. But as investigation progresses, it looks like it’s turning into a terrorist attack. Although some conspiracy theories are coming out saying that this is another ploy of the administration. Either way, who ever did this should be punished, if not, these people will suffer the full wrath that the Lord will bring upon them.

The mutineer Antonio Trillanes for his part made his contribution to the story by lashing out and blaming the administration for this recent tragedy. How can this person grandstand in the middle of the sorrow of the victim’s family. And up til now, I’m still wondering how the people that voted for him feel.

I grieve with Janine’s family and her friends. Up until now, I can’t take my mind of the thought, how her family suffered yesterday as they kept on hearing Janine’s name on the media, but can’t get definite information on the truth of the reports, as they can’t find Janine’s body in any of the hospitals concerned with the rescue. It wasn’t until around 8pm last night that they found her in a small funeral parlor somewhere in Pasay city, her name was mentioned on TV at around 2pm.

During the waiting hours of pain, the students, her classmates, her friends, the staff and faculty of Remedios T. Romualdez Memorial Schools, together with her family, were all in limbo as to where Janine was at that time. We were all holding on to false hopes as long as her body has yet to be found. Each and everyone that knew Janine’s number tried but failed to reach her on her phone.

I would like to mention too, that the classmate and friend that Janine was with 30 seconds before that explosion was Iris Llorca, that Iris is having a hard time, up to this moment, to comprehend what had happened to Janine. That Iris is blaming herself for the incident.

Let us all pray for Janine’s soul that she died not in vain and that she did not suffer during those times. We will miss you Janine.

Where did Burke Go?

October 14th, 2007 by edoc

Looks like, Dr. Preston Burke left Seattle Grace Hospital and his surgical career in exchange to a more exciting job as a mercenary. He is now seen as one of the allies of Jane Sommers in Bionic Woman.

Desperate Housewives Racial Slur

October 3rd, 2007 by edoc

Heard of it? Well it’s in the news. I could have taken it “with a grain of salt” according to a colleague, but I guess I won’t.

I am a Doctor and a Graduate of FEU-Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation and I am proud of it. I have read lots of reaction from forums (local) and I am insulted by the fact that non-doctors are reacting in a cold way.

I may not be a “big deal” locally, but how about those working in the US? How will they feel with this latest racial slur. I don’t agree to take this sitting down, I have to defend my colleagues, who like me, worked their asses off just to graduate and finish med school. It’s easy for non-doctors to say, come on, it’s a joke. But it’s not easy for a doctor to just take it a stride.

The relationship that exists between a patient and a doctor is bounded by trust. There are things that a patient will tell a doctor or there are things that a doctor will ask his/her patient that is beyond “normal” conversations. Heck, there are even information that a patient will not tell his/her family that he/she will tell a doctor. But if this relationship is strained with doubt then, the relationship becomes futile.

Good thing, had we not “whine” then ABC could not have heard that what their writers have done are offensive and racist. Had we just kept quite, their writers will think that they’ve gotten away with something that they can do again next time.
